Government is going to take responsibility of three private universities as authorities of those private universities failed to solve the ownership problem.
Earlier, ultimatum to end the stalemate situation was given 5 times by government, but trustee board of those universities failed to solve the problem and thus why, for the first time education ministry is taking such type of steps. Those three private universities are - Atish Dipankar Science & Technology University (ADUST), Dhaka International University (DIU) and IBAIS University.
Sources informed that, by forming own committee to direct university, administration will be handed over to the legal owner of the university according to the law. On the other hand, UGC has fallen into inconvenient position finding the real owner of the Prime University.
Earlier, education ministry notified authorities of those universities that, the collision of ownership and trustee board must have to be solved in a time and the result has to be informed to UGC and education ministry. Otherwise harder steps will be taken according to the law. "We don't want our children to be get admitted in a frictional institute," - education ministry notified. But authorities of three universities didn't listen to them. Moreover, complains of irregularities, admission business and certificate business increased day by day. Following this, government has taken responsibility of three private universities to bring back the regular atmosphere of education on those universities.
It should be mentionable that, according to the Private University Verdict 35(7), if any private university falls into stalemate situation, chancellor of the universities can take necessary steps using education ministry and UGC. The decision of Chancellor will be final in this matter.
