The University of Dhaka has suspended 'Kha' Unit viva until further notice.
Admission committee head and arts faculty dean Sadrul Amin told bdnews24.com in the small hours of Sunday that new viva dates will be announced later.
The Kha unit viva for the 2010-11 academic year were scheduled to be held from Nov 27 to Dec 1.
The High Court earlier stayed a Dhaka University syndicate decision, which imposed some conditions of qualification for admission through this unit and 'Gha' unit examinations for the academic year, for four months.
The syndicate decision, taken on Sep 6, 2009, had ruled that Islamic Economics, a subject in the madrasa education, would not be considered equivalent to Economics for admission to honours courses in Economics and Development Studies.
It also incorporated a condition that students must appear in examinations carrying 200 marks at the Higher Secondary level in English and Bangla to apply for admission in honours courses in seven departments, namely Bengali, English, Linguistics, International Relations, Sociology, Women and Gender Studies, and Mass Communication and Journalism.
